Norman Murphy

Predisent and CEO

Norm is the Executive Partner and founder of Northwest Partners, Ltd., an internationally recognized consulting and training firm.

With more than forty years of professional experience in the heavy equipment, investment banking and consulting industries, he brings a unique perspective to problems and issues.

Norm is a graduate of the State University of New York and Syracuse University where he completed his undergraduate degree in engineering and graduate studies in economic development.

Prior to creating Northwest Partners Ltd. in 1984, Norm served as a Division Manager with Caterpillar Tractor Company, and as an Executive with the International Harvester Company, and the Peter W. Smith Company. During his eighteen-year career with Caterpillar Norm held numerous sales and marketing positions including Division Sales Manager, Sales and Marketing Development
Manager, and Director of International Sales. Fourteen years of his Caterpillar experience were in residence outside of North America. While with International Harvester he directed the reorganization and operations of thirteen divisions as Vice President of Market Development, Sales Administration and Product Support for the Construction Equipment Group. In his role as President of the Industrial Group for the Peter W. Smith Company, a Chicago-based investment banking firm, he directed all corporate operations 
involving client acquisitions and divestitures. 

Recognizing the need and opportunity for a dedicated consulting and business development organization to support the industrial 
community, he established Northwest Partners Ltd. with a group of equipment executives in 1984.

Norm is particularly well known for his ability to develop creative solutions and provide direction for struggling and rapidly growing companies. He is one of the company’s principal trainers and oversees all of the firm’s corporate development assignments.
